Monday Motivation 102: Learning to Say No
Happy Monday!
Quote of the week: “Half of the troubles of this life can be traced to saying yes too quickly and not saying no soon enough.” Tim Ferriss
This week is all about getting selective with the word "yes" and becoming closer with the word "no". This applies to all aspects of our life. Our friends, family, work life, etc. Ask yourself, how many times have you put yourself last, to put someone else first?
It's so easy to fall into the never ending pattern of signing up for things we simply don't want to be apart of. Our people pleasing tendencies, often get us in trouble.
Not only should you focus on saying no more often...but not feeling the burden of explaining yourself afterwards. "No" is its own sentence and doesn't require further explanation.
Some phrases to get familiar to help you with this are:
Thanks for thinking of me but I actually have another commitment that day.
I wish I were able to but I can't right now.
That doesn't work for me but thanks anyway.
As you prepare for your week - take a pause before you give out your next "yes".
